Meet the Chef!

Chef Jacob Bertheaume is a classically trained chef and culinary leader whose career has been shaped by a deep respect for place, seasonality, and the simple beauty of well-prepared food. A graduate of the Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Academy, Jacob built a strong technical foundation that would guide his evolving style of elevated comfort cuisine.

Raised along the rugged shores of Lake Superior in northern Wisconsin, Jacob developed an early appreciation for the connection between landscape and food. He went on to serve as Head Chef at the prestigious Hotel Chequamegon, where he refined his leadership in the kitchen and his commitment to thoughtful, ingredient-driven cooking.

Before heading west, Jacob spent several formative years working in a variety of restaurants in Minneapolis where he expanded his culinary perspective and honed his skills across diverse kitchens.

In 2011, Jacob relocated to the Lake Tahoe region, where he quickly embraced California’s vibrant food culture. Immersing himself in the farm-to-table philosophy, he fell in love with the abundance of fresh produce, local ingredients, and seasonal inspiration that define the region’s cuisine.

Jacob later opened his own restaurant in South Lake Tahoe, creating daily menus centered around farm-fresh produce and house-smoked meats. His cooking became known for balancing rustic comfort with refined technique, always allowing the ingredients to take center stage.

Throughout his time in the Tahoe region, Jacob has helped lead and shape numerous restaurants, bringing with him a broad culinary knowledge and a philosophy rooted in cooking with care, intention, and respect for every ingredient.

In recent years, he has focused on more intimate culinary experiences, working as a private chef for families in the Lahontan community near Truckee . There he continues to craft thoughtful, seasonal meals tailored to the people he serves.

At the heart of Chef Jacob’s cooking are his roots: elevated comfort food made with fresh, local, and seasonal ingredients, prepared with creativity, warmth, and a genuine love for the craft.
